Baptism of fire in the Worlds; first ever competition for me as a windfoiler.

The World Championships in Italy not starting so well for me...

In the past weeks the preparations had been priority. Preparations for my first ever competition in windfoiling, and let that be the World Championships. At one hand you can say that it maybe isn't too smart to kick of my match sailing career in an international really strong fleet, at the other hand this event will deliver me a big load of experience at the end of the racing week.

Too clear that for now it's precisely the experience that I'm missing in the first two days of racing out here. During the training in the previous week of our stay in Campione, we as a team had the time to adapt to the conditions and get ourselves ready for the racing. Everything lined up fine, I was feeling conditionally good and apart from the natural tension the state of mind was also fine. But when the first races started yesterday and today, I notice that there is much more needed to compete in the top of the class. The level is high and when it comes to technique I would be able to keep up in the higher regions of the class, but I really still don't have enough experience to look past the board and the sail, and being able to keep looking at the best options in the field.

At the first day we had strong wind, fantastic course racing but there were no results written down for me. And that's where the mistakes are getting obvious. I was too busy with everything going on at my board,  for instance I sailed the wrong course, and I didn't passed the finish line in the correct way. And in the other races I've made a bit of similar mistakes which cause my bad position in the ranking today. I still hope to get the good results rolling in, gaining more experience in the field these days can absolutely contribute to that.

I'll keep you posted!
