Homesickness, I want to go back!
Eleven days of sun, wind, beach, racing, laughter, emotions and friendship. Eleven days Croatia. It was simply phenomenal, living my best life was made easy over there. Returning to my home in Friesland with a bit of a hangover. Not from alcohol, but from the harsh reality that live goes on in a much colder and greyer area.
Of course there will be events in the future in spectacular sceneries all around the globe, but this event in Croatia will always have a special glow. This is because of the lessons that I've learnt, the fellow athletes that I've got to know better and better and the group proces with the NTT-squad. It all came together in Bol on Brac Island. Not that my results were at the level that I'd been hoping for, no, need to step it up. But after all the proces is equally important to the results. Life lessons have been taught to me in cases of independence, sociality and sports.
Since I only got my iQFOiL Youth set one and a half month ago, I can say that this was yet again the highest achievable. Ending in 29th place, with some fantastic results in courserace gives me a big sense of excitement. Everything a young athlete could wish for to experience is offered by the iQFOiL Youth and Junior Class. New great people, great wind, great vibes and great memories. Although this unfortunately already was my last event in the youth class, I'm ready to take on the challenge of competing in the senior class.
From the bottom of my heart I genuinely want to thank the people that are making this youth and junior class to a succes. And especially the great NTT-squad, THANK YOU. Massive congratulations to my buddies Hidde van der Meer and Hidde Boon, for the incredible results they've sailed. Let's keep it going guys.
