Unbelievably fun long weekend at the beautiful isle of Texel!

Woowww, what a super fun long weekend it has been. It really felt like a vacation in the Caribbean on Texel. An amazing festival, amazing weather, super fun courseracing and to top it off: the Round Texel Race of course. Which obviously was the main reason for our stay on the island. In very light and because of that hard conditions, I managed to take the win and I can now call myself Dutch Champion Marathon.
Feels great to see so many windfoil and catamaran enthusiast on the beach. What a massive and super exciting event at Paal17. The Round Texel race started of with a super light wind with maximum 8 knots. Around the top of the island the wind was really light, I expect that it must have been around 6 knots. Just a case of keeping the set up on the foil, which was necessary anyway to not get stuck on the sandbanks. Then a huge downwinder came and while rounding the lowest point of the island the wind finally picked up. Passing the 'Razende bol' I got about 16 knots in the sail.
The muscles slowly started to spasm and it was now a case of perseverance. What a holy feeling it is to pass the finish line after 4 hours and 7 minutes. With a distance covered of 53 Nautical Miles this event is absolutely a heck of race every year. Huge compliments to the organisation and my fellow competitors, and big a big thanks to my sponsors who have made this title possible!
Already looking forward to next year to defend my title.
